EQ5096, also known as Dongfeng Warrior, is a high-mobility off-road vehicle used by the Chinese army. Let’s explore its history and evolution.
1)Origin and reverse imitation:
In the first Gulf War in 1991, the US military used the Humvee (HMMWV) off-road vehicle to demonstrate its high mobility and fast maneuvering capabilities, which attracted global attention.
China has decided to develop a similar high-mobility off-road vehicle for military use, but it is not realistic to develop it completely independently. Therefore, China purchased a batch of civilian versions of Hummer H1 from the United States through private enterprises and conducted reverse mapping.
The design of the first-generation Warrior basically copied the civilian version of the Hummer H1, but added some self-designed elements on the front face.
2)The development of Warriors:
The first-generation Warrior (internal code name EQ2050) was officially delivered to the troops in 2008. Its body structure and appearance are basically similar to Hummer, but there are some independent elements in the front design.
The warrior's protective capabilities are relatively weak, but it is still widely used in the Chinese army.
Subsequently, the improved Warrior and the armored second-generation Warrior were launched one after another, further improving the protection capabilities.
3)The third generation of warriors:
The third-generation Warrior has formed a complete car series, which has been completely reborn and has a more burly appearance.
It no longer resembles the American Hummer in appearance, but still retains some traces of imitation
In short, the Dongfeng Warriors play an important role in the Chinese military and continue to evolve to meet the needs of modernization
